A company with a long history

Compilator was founded in 1989 by Anders Paulcén, as a trading company named Kontura in Trelleborg. Anders thought that the programmes available on the market at the time were old-fashioned and had too few tyre adaptions. He decided to create a Windows application from scratch; it should be easy to use while not lacking advanced and unique tyre functions.

The software program DackData was officially launched at the tyre fair in Borlänge in 1995. DäckData The company had then been converted into a Limited company called DackData AB.

The response to DackData was very good, and the first full time programmer was hired, while Anders took care of sales, training and installations.

The software program also had a unique menu image that attracted great attention. It symbolises how easy and fun it is to use DackData in your daily work.

Version 2 of the program was released, introducing a range of new functions, such as branch module, a security system with individual passwords, rim search, complete wheel search etc.

DackData kept its position as the most complete tyre software on the market. In 1996 the Price Generator was released, a Web-based application that allows suppliers to export price lists that can be directly imported into DackData. This was the first step towards linking garages and suppliers electronically and so simplifying tyre and rim management even further.

By allowing the suppliers to manage their price lists themselves, the risk of errors and delays is minimised. The Price Generator was a success early on, and most of the suppliers are connected.

At the 1998 tyre fair, sales accelerated. DackData wasn’t only the most complete programme on the market, but also the biggest tyre application in Sweden.

During 1999, deals were closed with most tyre chains in Sweden. Compilator created special modules to connect the chain garages to a central warehouse and group accounting.

At the beginning of 2000, DäckData changed its name to Compilator AB. The portfolio contained more than just DackData, and release abroad had begun; a change of company name made sense.

During 2000, DackData version 3 was released at the Jönköping tyre fair. New applications were, among other things, a new appointment book and a new order image including direct invoicing and the Vehicle Registers.

At the next tyre fair, in 2002, Compilator was again the first to introduce a range of new applications, such as client text messages and currency handling. The menu image had been renewed and symbolises the modern programme that DackData still is

Compilator moved to their current offices in 2004. They are situated in Gamla Väster in Malmö and offer not only space for programmers, trainers and salespeople, but also a modern training area with space for up to twelve course participants.

The big expansion, combined with high profitability, caused Compilator to be noticed when the most rapidly expanding technology companies in Europe were to be chosen. European Technology Fast 500 is an objective ranking where Compilator has been chosen together with known names such as Sigma, Song Networks, Tele2, and Getinge. Compilator was number 17 on the list among the Swedish businesses, and compared to companies throughout Europe, Compilator was at number 210 among the most rapidly expanding companies.

During 2005, a new version of DackData was again released. The new applications included such things as electronic ordering connected to supplier stockroom, dimension conversion, new storage module, improved appointment book and a new retreading module.

Today, Compilator is a well established company and has a stable financial situation. With several hundred garages as clients throughout Sweden, Norway and Finland, the future is looking bright.
